MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW) – Authorities in Balkh have warned telecom service providers against abrupt suspension of services in the province.
This comes after telecommunication services went off in Balkh when the service providers allegedly received threatening calls from an unknown address.
Meanwhile, Fazal Hadid, chairman provincial council, has dubbed it as a political conspiracy. The move has irked residents in the province. They see it a sign of weakness on the part of the provincial administration.
The provincial police chief, Ajmal Fayez, has warned telecom providers against repeat of this incident. Spokesman for the governor, Munner Farhad has said this move is unacceptable.
The service providers declined to comment on the matter.
This is not clear so far who warned the telecom firms in Balkh, however, the Taliban have been engaged in similar activities in other provinces. The Taliban have not commented in this connection.
