CHAGCHARAN (SW): A number of teachers in five public sector schools in Ghor province have resigned in protest against non-payment of salaries.
Abdul Sami and Kheruddin Mutawakil, two such teachers, informed Salam Watandar they have shared the issue of non-payment of salaries with the provincial officials, but to no avail. The protesters claim they have not been paid for the past ten months. It was claimed differences between the local head of Directorate of Education and the National Directorate of Security have led to the crisis.
Khalil Ahmad Mubarez, head of the Directorate of Education, has blamed the former provincial NDS chief Khalil Ahmad Mubarez for fueling insecurity, causing closure of schools and impediments in payment of salaries to teachers in the Feroz Koh city.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the NDS chief, but he declined to comment.
Provincial governor Ghulam Nasir Khaseh has turned down the resignations of the teachers. He has said the matter is under consideration and would soon be resolved.
A while ago, the NDS called for closing down 113 schools in the province that are in the restive parts.
