PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): The Taliban’s shadow governor for Baghlan province along with his companions has been killed in a joint operation of the Afghan and the U.S. forces, officials have said.
Ahmad Javed Saleem, spokesman for the Afghan Special Forces (ASF), told Salam Watandar the operation was conducted in the Dand-e-Ghori area of the province. He said the militants were targeted in an air raid while they were busy planning an attack in the province. The officials added that a total of 15 top ranking militants have been killed in this attack.
Meanwhile, Faisal Sami, member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) from Baghlan has also confirmed the incident. He said the Taliban’s shadow governor was busy in a meeting at the residence of a local elder Haji Sultan. Faisal said deaths of up to 20 Taliban have been confirmed so far.
The Taliban have not commented on the matter so far.
