FARYAB (SW): Security officials in Faryab province said that Taliban fired three rockets at a Friday Bazar at the center of Khawaja Sabz Posh district which killed 5 civilians and wounded 45 others.
Abdul Karim Youresh, spokesperson for Police Headquarters in Faryab, told Salam Watandar that most of the victims are women and children. According to Mr. Youresh, most of the wounded are in critical condition and as a result, the death toll may increase.
Sebghatullah Silab, the deputy head of the Faryab Provincial Council told Salam Watandar that the Taliban fired three rockets at Friday Market at the center of Khawaja Sabz Posh district, which killed 4 civilians and injured 45 other civilians, including women and children.
According to Mr. Sebghatullah, the target of Taliban may have been the district council's building of Khawja Sabz Posh in which Faryab governor and other security officials were having a meeting.
So far, the Taliban have not taken the responsibility for the attack.
