KUNDU CITY (SW): A group of Taliban insurgents wearing the security forces’ uniform killed six Afghan Local Police (ALP) men in Kunduz province early on Sunday.

The incident took place in the Zakhil area of the 3rd police district in Kunduz city. Local authorities have confirmed six policemen died in the attack. Sharif, the commander of ALP in Kunduz, told Salam Watandar he was at home when the Taliban insurgents dressed as policemen stormed the outpost. He said the militants first detained some of the ALP men in a house nearby the ALP outpost, and then entered the outpost posing as re-enforcement.

According to the ALP commander, the Taliban insurgents killed two ALP men on the spot and took 4 more to the river banks and shot them dead.  “The Taliban took away equipment from the outpost with them including six assault rifles, one rocket launcher and a machine gun”, informed Sharif.

In the meantime, Safiullah Amiri, member of the provincial council, has claimed one of the ALP men killed his colleagues on the command of the Taliban, and fled the outpost with the equipment to join Taliban ranks. A reliable source at the Afghan National Police (ANP)’s Northeastern zone told Salam Watandar up to 7 policemen are dead and one injured in this attack.

Salam Watandar wished to contact the Kunduz police headquarters on the matter, but to no avail. Taliban have claimed the attack on the ALP outpost in Kunduz.
