GHAZNI CITY (SW): The Taliban have torched a high-school in Ghazni’s Andar district, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Abdul Jame, member of the provincial council, informed Salam Watandar the Taliban torched the Sultan Shahabuddin Ghori high-school after facing defeat from the security forces in clashes in the province. He added there are up to four thousand students enrolled in this school.
Fareed Mashal, spokesman for the police headquarters, has confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, Mujibur Rehman Ansaar, head of the directorate of education, has claimed the schools is damaged due to mortar attacks during recent clashes here. He said ragging clashes and closure of roads in Andar district hindered the efforts to put off the fire.
The Taliban have not commented on the matter. This is the first incident of the sort in Ghazni.
