KABUL (SW) – The Taliban has announced to take part in the forthcoming peace conference in the Russian capital Moscow.
In a statement, the Taliban noted a ten-man delegation led by Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanekzai will be participating in the conference. It added the agenda of this conference is holding discussions about the issue of Afghanistan, declaration of policies and opening channels to reaching an understanding with ‘’non-government Afghan political groups’’.
The rebels have vowed they want to utilize this opportunity to clarify its stance to various parties and explain its policy and mechanism about future Afghanistan and establishment of an intra-Afghan Islamic system of governance.
This comes as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dubbed this meeting in Moscow as fruitless. Media reports suggest the meeting has been called by the “Council of the Afghan diaspora in Russia”.
