LASHKARGAH (SW): A Taliban suicide bomber has killed at least seven people and left seven wounded in Lashkargah, capital of Helmand province.
Umar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, has said the attacker targeted residence of a local elder in the provincial capital Lashkargah when a meeting was underway. He said the attacker detonated his explosives upon entering the residence of Khuda Dad in the 2nd police district area in the city.
According to the police, a car laden with explosives has been recovered at the site of this blast. A security source who wished not to be named said those targeted in this attack were employees of the National Directorate of Security (NDS).
The Taliban on their part, claimed to have killed ‘scores’ of pro-government individuals. Qari Yosuf Ahmadi, a spokesman of the Taliban in the south has said 32 people have been killed and a number of vehicles destroyed.
