KABUL (SW) – Hundreds of the Taliban rebels have stormed Syed Abad district in Maidan Wardak province, an official confirmed on Sunday.
Sharifullah Hotak, member of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the rebels stormed district headquarters late last night. He claimed the district police chief, Col. Syed Nazrab Shah, has been killed along with his guards.
He claimed the Taliban have closed the Kabul – Kandahar highway by overrunning three check posts and a compound of the National Directorate of Security.
