GHAZNI CITY (SW): Poor security situation in Ghazni province has led to deployment of additional troops on main highways leading to the provincial capital.
Members of the provincial council and security officials informed the Taliban stormed Andar, Gelan, Jaghato and Zana Khan districts last night.
Commander Shaoor Gul of the 303-Thunder Corps is supervising the security operation in Ghazni. He informed the security forces inflicted heavy losses upon the Taliban last night, and killed 50 rebels besides wounding 10 others.
Naseer Ahmad Faqiri, member of the provincial council, said the clashes claimed the lives of 15 security personnel in Zana Khan and 11 others in Jaghato districts besides wounding eight members of the security forces. He added the rebels also took away arms ammunition and other resources of the security forces with them.
The surge in such attacks has spread fears about the fall of Ghazni to the Taliban.
