SAR-I-PUL (SW): Local officials in Sar-i-Pul said that the Taliban have set more than 500 homes on fire in the Mirzawlang valley of the province that have been abandoned for three days.

Sayed Asadullah Danish, a member of the provincial council of Sar-i-Pul, told Salam Watandar that the Taliban had cut off the trees of the valley for their winter fires and “this valley has now become a ruin”.

Khalilullah Dastyar, police chief of Sar-i-Pul approved the provincial council’s remarks, saying the Taliban have destroyed houses in the eastern and western parts of the Mirzawlang valley.

Mr. Dastyar said there has not been any updated information available yet.

Local sources said that Taliban’s soldiers were still present in the valley, and cutting trees were ongoing.

The Taliban has not issued any statement yet.
