“Taliban set conditions for the release of copter crew”

PUL-I-ALAM (SW): The government of Pakistan has sent a delegation to the eastern Afghan province of Logar for negotiations over fate of the crew of a Pakistani chopper that crashed-landed here last week, local officials said on Thursday.

Hameedullah Hameed, chief of the Azara district told Salam Watandar that a delegation comprising of tribal elders from both sides of the Durand Line, and a representative of the Pakistan Army have reached to have talks with the Taliban. He claimed that the Taliban have put forward demands such as the release of their captive leaders in Pakistan and permission to reside in Pakistan.  

He went on to say that the Taliban’s Queeta and Peshawar Councils have urged upon the militants to liberate the captivated crew members of the Pakistani helicopter.

About the local efforts for the release of the crew, Abdul Wali Wakil, a member of the provincial council said that all the captive men are in good health. He said that the local elders are trying their best to come-up with a sensible settlement.
