HELMAND (SW): Wali Mohammad Ahmadzai, Commander of the 215 Maiwand Army Regiment in Helmand told Salam Watandar that the Taliban's customs-checkpoint on Delaram-Zaranj highway has been destroyed as a result of the operation that has been launched over the past few days.
According to Ahmadzai, the operation was launched to clear up the Taliban and secure the highway by setting up security checkpoints. Ahmadzai assured that the highway will be secured in a few days.
Baz Mohammad Nasiri, head of Helmand Provincial Council said that the Nimrooz highway is currently facing security threats, and security forces must work harder to secure the highway.
According to unofficial sources, the Taliban daily earned hundreds of thousands AFN by extorting money from travelers on this highway.
According to these unofficial reports, the Taliban have created tolls on the Farah highway as well.
