GHOR (SW) – The Taliban rebels have freed the six civilians taken hostage from Ghor province few days back.
Mohammad Iqbal Nezami, spokesman for the Afghan National Police, informed local elders helped mediate for the release of these people, including a doctor, a driver and four students. Three women are among them, he said.
The official said no harm has been done to the freed civilians. They were abducted by the Taliban from Dawlatyar district of the province.
Separately, the Taliban have torched six homes of civilians in the Chaharsada district of the province.
Abdul Rehman Atshaan, deputy chairman of the provincial council, said clashes erupted in the district last evening. He said the rebels took away six local elders as captives.
