PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW) – Following the retreat of the Afghan Special Forces and the U.S Forces from Baghlan, the Taliban recaptured a number of areas, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Mohammad Safdar Mohseni, chairman of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the Taliban recaptured the areas they lost to the ASF and the U.S. forces. Meanwhile, spokesman for the ASF, Javed Saleem, said the police and army forces failed to keep the areas under control after their retreat.
Governor Abdul Hai Khatibi has expressed fears the security forces in the provinces lack the resources and personnel, and persistence of the situation would result in the growing influence of the Taliban.
Local sources have told Salam Watandar the Taliban have recaptured a number of areas in the Baghlan-e-Markazi, and have also blown-up the Abqul brighe in the area.
