TALUQAN (SW) – The Taliban have killed 12 members of the Afghan Border Police in Takhar to recapture the highway leading to Ai Khanum dry port in the province, an official confirmed.
Khalil Aseer, spokesman for the police in the province, said a local police commander is among the seven security personnel wounded in clashes with the Taliban. He said a number of civilians got killed when a mortar shell hit a residential area in the Dasht-e-Qala district.
The fighting has spread fear forcing many locals to flee from their homes. Locals informed the Taliban have beaten a number of women in areas under their control for coming out of home.
