GHAZNI (SW) – The Taliban militants have placed mines on the main highway connecting Jaghori district to the provincial capital, members of the Ghazni provincial council said.

Hassan Reza Yosufi, a member of the Ghazni PC, told Salam Watandar that the Taliban militants have blocked the highway leading to Jaghori district via Qara Bagh district. He said blockade of highways have caused price hike in the district.

He added at least 30 incidents of abduction have taken place on this highway this year so far and 10 abducted passengers still remain in the custody of the Taliban.

In conversation with SW, a number of Jaghori residents said they are faced with grim impediments.

Meanwhile, the provincial police chief, Khalid Wardak, said planes are in place to ensure safety of passengers on the Ghazni – Jaghori highway.

Similar concerns have been raised by the residents of Maalistan, Nawar and Ajristan districts in the provinces.
