GHAZNI CITY (SW): The Taliban have reportedly overrun the police headquarters in Ghazni’s Jaghato district and have killed the police chief in Deh Yak district.
Naseer Ahmad Faqiri, provincial council member, informed the Taliban staged assaults on the police headquarters in Jaghato last night, and overrun it after the security forces retreated. He added the rebels blew-up the compound this morning.
He claimed both sides have sustained heavy losses, but poor communication hindered verification of these reports.
The provincial council member further said district police chief of Deh Yak, Faizullah Tofan, and a number of other security forces got killed in the Taliban’s raids. He further said commander of the reserved security force, Barkatullah, who was on his way to site of clashes, was also killed by the Taliban.
The provincial administration did not responded to repeated calls for comments.
