Taliban launch coordinated attacks on Kunduz

KUNDOZ CITY (SW): The Taliban have launched a massive coordinated attack to overrun the strategic town of Kunduz city, which briefly fell to the Taliban exactly one year ago.

Mahbobullah Akbari, the spokesperson for the Afghan National Police (ANP)’s 808-Spenzar Zone told journalists that the Taliban have attacked Sahdarak, Zakhil, Charkhab and Nasiri villages on the outskirts of the city.

These areas are close to the Kundoz-Baghlan highway. Taliban launched attacks from western parts of the city and are reportedly bidding to advance towards Gota Gird area.

Meanwhile, Mahmud Danish, the spokesperson for Kundoz governor has stated that the Taliban have taken positions in the houses of the local people. Danish added that the security forces have pushed them back.

In the meantime, Amruddin Wali, member of the provincial council, has said that intense fighting is still underway in parts of the province.

Releasing a press note, the Taliban have noted that the current operations are parts of their annual offensives. Taliban claimed that they have captured 4 security check points.
