Taliban kills 10 Afghan Special Forces in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (SW): Taliban insurgents killed 10 Afghan Special Forces in Nawa district of Helmand on Friday night.

A security source from Helmand who requested anonymity told Salam Watandar that Taliban insurgents attacked a military outpost in Nawa district on Friday night killing 10 Afghan Special Forces and injuring 5 more. Although the source said there were 20 soldiers in the outpost, but did not provide information about the remaining soldiers.

Some local residents told Salam Watandar that the Taliban insurgents took the soldiers to Abdul Ahad area which is 700 meters from Nawa district, killing 10 Special Forces and injuring 5 while taking 5 soldiers with themselves.

Omar Zwak, provincial governor’s spokesman, confirmed the Taliban’s attack on a military outpost in Nawa district, but he did not provide casualty details. He said that a delegation to investigate the incident has been dispatched to Nawa district.

Salam Watandar wished to contact Taliban on the matter, but to no avail.
