MAIMANA (SW) – Officials on Sunday claimed at least six members of a family have been shot killed by the Taliban insurgents in Faryab province.
Governor of Andkhoy district, Sultan Mohammad Sanjar, said this incident took place in the Khanqah area. He added a local Taliban commander, Bedaar, entered a residential home, and killed six inhabitants, including women and children.
He added that the reason behind this tragic incident is the fact that members of this family were previously associated with the Taliban, but later shunned their ties to the insurgents.
The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahed, has rejected involvement in this incident. In a statement, he dubbed it as a personal feud.
