DAIKUNDi (SW) – At least eight security forces got killed in the Taliban’s attack on security check posts in Daikundi province, an official said on Friday.
Sheema Rustamyan, chairperson for the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the incident took place at around 01:00 am after midnight in the Kijran district. She said eight security forces got killed and 16 more got injured in this attack.
She claimed these check posts have fallen to the Taliban after the attack.
Sakeena Ehsani, spokesperson for the provincial governor, said in this regard that the incident took place after a security operation in the Eshtarli district against outlawed armed groups. She also confirmed the death toll.
The governor’s spokesperson added the Taliban have fled, and the security forces have taken back control of the check posts.
Kijran is one of the insecure districts in Daikundi province bordering restive Helmand province in the south.
