GHAZNI (SW) – Local officials in Ghazni said at least 27 soldiers were killed as a result of a Taliban raid in Qarabagh district of the province.
Ghazni Provincial Council member, Ghulam Hussain Changiz, confirmed the incident, saying the Taliban attacked an army outpost in the district last night, killing 27 army soldiers and taking away seven others with them.
Habibullah Zerak, the district governor, said the Taliban attack was carried out in collaboration with infiltrators among the ranks of the army who later joined the Taliban. According to him, 25 soldiers were killed in the incident.
The Ministry of National Defense has confirmed the deaths of nine army soldiers in this attack by the Taliban.
The Taliban have not said anything so far.
