BADGHES (SW) – At least 21 security forces have been killed in the Taliban’s coordinated assaults in Badghes province, an official confirmed on Monday.
Abdul Azizi Baik, chairman for the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the rebels stormed check posts of the Afghan Local Police, Afghan National Police and the local militias in the Qades and Abqamari districts last night. He confirmed 21 security forces and 10 Taliban rebels got killed in clashes while nine other security forces sustained injuries.
However, Jamshed Shahabi, spokesman for the provincial governor, has only confirmed the killing of eight security forces in the two districts. He claimed 15 Taliban rebels were killed and ten more wounded in these clashes,
The Taliban have not commented on this so far.
