FARAH (SW): The Taliban stormed an Afghan National Army (ANA) check post in Farah province killing at least 20 soldiers, a member of the provincial council confirmed on Saturday.
Dadullah Qaneh, the Farah PC member, has said the Taliban stormed the ANA check in the Gansak area of the Bala Balook district last night. He claimed the militants had night goggles, and took away all arms and ammunition with them form the check post.
Abdul Basir Salangi, governor of the province, has confirmed the attack, but claimed the casualties are lower than 20.
The Taliban have taken responsibility for the attack, claiming to have killed 20 soldiers and taking away ten weapons with them form the check post.
A while ago, the Taliban staged similar raids on security check posts in Farah City, and Bala Balook district killing at least 26 security personnel.
