FEROZ KOH (SW) – At least 16 civilians and five policemen got killed as the Taliban staged coordinated attacks in Ghor province.
A number of Ghor residents told Salam Watandar the Taliban attacked two villages on the outskirts of Feroz Koh city here last evening.
Abdul Baseer Qaderi, member of the provincial council, said five policemen and 16 civilians including women and children got killed and 16 more civilians got injured in these assaults. He added the Taliban also sustained casualties in these incidents. Qaderi warned the Feroz Koh city might fell to the Taliban if immediate actions against the insurgents are not taken.
Security officials here have confirmed the attacks, but did not share details about the casualties.
Spokesman for the provincial governor, Abdul Hai Khatibi, said both sides have sustained casualties in these attacks. Juma Gul Yaqubi, director public health, said 16 injured people have been brought to the hospital from the places of these clashes. He added the injured people are not in critical state.
