TALUQAN (SW) – At least 16 members of the Afghan Border Police (ABP) got killed in the Taliban’s coordinated attacks in Takhar province, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Sunat Taimur, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed Salam Watandar the rebels attacked ABP posts in Chah Aab district’s Nau Abad area last evening. At least six members of the force are missing and two more are wounded, he added.
The official informed the Taliban have overrun the Nau Abad area after storming the ABP posts. He acknowledged the rebels also confiscated arms and ammunition from the security forces.
The Taliban have claimed to have killed 13 men in this attack. A well-placed source in Takhar has claimed the local administration was aware about this attack in advance.
