Taliban kill 14 security forces in Badghes

BADGHES (SW) – At least 14 members of the Afghan National Army were killed in Badghes province as the insurgents stormed check posts in Bala Murghab district, an official said on Saturday.

Fareed Akhizay, member of the provincial council, said the Taliban attacked ANA check posts in the Akazay area of the province. He said ten members of the ANA got injured in this attack.

Confirming these attacks, spokesman for the provincial governor, Jamshed Shahabi, said 12 soldiers were killed and 10 other were injured in Bala Murghab. He claimed a number of Taliban insurgents were also killed in exchange of gunfire with the security forces.

The Taliban have taken responsibility for the attack.

Separately, a security source in Takhar province told Salam Watandar the Taliban insurgents killed four security forces and left five others wounded following similar attacks in Khwaja Ghar district.

Jawad Haidari, spokesman for the provincial governor, has confirmed the attack, but did not share details about the death toll. He said additional troops have been sent to the area, and situation is under control in Khwaja Ghar district.
