PUL-I-KHOMRI (SW): Local officials in northern province Baghlan, said that during clashes between security forces and the militants, 30 insurgents have been killed and 39 more have been wounded in Baghlan Markazi district.
Abdul Satar Barez, governor of Baghlan, told journalists on Friday that during the operation on Saturday, 30 militants were killed, including 5 notorious Taliban commanders, and 39 more were wounded.
He confirmed that 4 security forces men were also killed during the operation.
He said that the operation is still underway in the district.
Hundreds of Taliban fighters conducted offensives aimed at capturing the district and Baghlan-Kunduz highway on Thursday night.
Barez added that the highway reopened following the operation conducted by the security forces.
Taliban have not commented on the incident so far.
