PARUN (SW): Taliban insurgents have stormed Bargmatal district in the early hours of Monday. The clashes between Taliban and the security forces are still ongoing in the district.
Hafiz Abdul Qayum, the governor of Nuristan, stated that the number of Taliban insurgents are in hundreds, but the security forces have brought heavy causalities to the insurgents. According to him, air support has been dispatched to the district in order to suppress the Taliban by air and land.
Omar Farooq, a member of the provincial council, said that more than 12 hundred Taliban insurgents mostly Pakistani and Chechen fighters attacked the district from east.
So far, the exact number of causalities has not been announced. But, according to the provincial council member, 1 civilian is dead and another injured.
The Taliban have not commented on the matter to media yet.
