FIROZKOH (SW): The Taliban prevented the burial of people’s uprising fighters in Ghor province.
The residents of Ghalmin area of Firozkoh city and members of the Ghor Provincial Council told Salam Watandar that the Taliban did not allow the burial of 2 people’s uprising fighters in the area forcing the funeral procession to be transferred to Firozkoh.
The locals also claim that the Taliban looted the house of several people’s uprising fighter in Ghalmin area and torched down 6 houses of the fighters while the insurgents have taken Mullah a relative of Sayidiyar, a commander of people’s uprising.
Fazluhaq Ehsan, the head of the provincial council, said that since 3 days in clashes between the Taliban insurgents and people’s uprising fighters, 2 Taliban insurgents and 3 uprising fighters have died. According to him, due to clashes, dozens of families have been displaced from Ghalmin area. He warned that if the government does not pay attention to the area under the Taliban control, the instability will reach Firozkoh, the provincial capital.
Mohammad Iqbal Nizami, the spokesman for the provincial police, confirmed the torching down of the houses belonging to people’s uprising fighters by the Taliban but did not comment on the prevention of funeral. “Saturday night’s clashes claimed 1 Taliban insurgent’s life while 1 security forces’ soldier and 1 people uprising fighter were killed”, added Nizami.
He also informed about government military operation to clean up the area from the insurgents.
The Taliban have not commented to media yet. The group took over Ghalmin 3 days ago.
