KUNDUZ CITY (SW): At least four members of a local anti-Taliban armed movement in Kunduz have been killed by one of their comrade who later joined the Taliban.
A well placed source who wished not to be named in the report told Salam Watandar that this member of the local up risers collaborated with the Taliban to kill four of his companions before joining the militants. The source said the incident took place in Khab Abad district’s Jangal Bashi area where members of the anti-Taliban militia were asleep when the infiltrator opened fire at them.
The assassin has been identified as Qand Agha who is said to be associated with the Taliban commander Qari Hashim, and was temporarily serving under anti-Taliban commander Jabbar.
Hayatullah Amiri, chief of the Khan Abad district has confirmed the incident. Talking to Salam Watandar, he said that the assassin killed his colleagues and joined the Taliban taking away the deceased men’s arms with him. Amiri said the assassin was resident of Farkhar district in Takhar province.
The Taliban are yet to comment on this incident.
