Taliban in Baghlan ban women in markets

PUL-E-KHOMRI (SW): Taliban in northern Baghlan province have warned women that they would be punished if they would be seen in the market.

Nooria Hamidi, one of human rights activists and a resident in Dand-e-Ghori district told SalamWatandar in an exclusive interview that Taliban have imposed rules on women’s commuting in bazaar calling it illegal and the cause of moral corruption in the society.

According to Hamidi, based on the rules Taliban have imposed, women can not even go to school or education institutions.

She said that Taliban even extort money from dowries, teachers’ salaries, and agriculture products.

The activist who is also a member of civil society in Baghlan, said that Taliban have killed several members of her family.

She criticized government’s performance and local officials for not taking any action against Taliban through clear-up operation in Baghlan.

Abdul Rashid Bashir, Acting Police Chief in Baghlan however, said that security forces are prepared for conducting a comprehensive operation in the district soon.

He said that Taliban in the areas under their control oppress the residents and force them to obey their rules.

Religious scholars in Baghlan: Suicide attacks are un-Islamic

In a gathering in Baghlan, Tens of religious scholars, condemned terrorists’ attacks and killing of civilians said that these actions are against Islamic teachings.

Mohammad Raqib Hanifi, one of the religious scholars, said that a person who commits suicide attack and sheds an innocent’s blood, are out of Islam and know nothing about Islam.

Jamaluddin Ahmadi and Mohammad Nasir, the two religious scholars, said that Pakistan have brainwashed most of the youth and send them to Afghanistan for carrying out terrorist activities.

According to them, most of those young suicide bombers who blow themselves up, not only have any information about Islam but they are rarely literate.
