11/07/2018

PUL-I-ALAM (SW) – The Taliban have closed down dozens of schools in Pul-i-Alam, Logar, in retaliation to the security offensives against them.

Kabir Haqmal, director communication at the Ministry of Education, informed Salam Watandar up to 50 schools have been closed down in the provincial capital Pul-i-Alam and Mohammad Agha district. “Efforts are underway to ensure reopening of these schools”.

According to the local officials, the rebels have warned students and teachers against attending the schools. Haseebullah Stanikzai, chairman of the provincial council, has said in this regard that the closure of schools has disrupted the half-yearly school examinations in the province.

The Taliban have not commented on this matter yet.
