KANDAHAR CITY (SW): After splitting, two groups of the Taliban have initiated fight against each other in southern Zabul’s Khak-e-Afghan district.
Initial reports suggest fighting between militants loyal to Mullah Dadullah Mansoor and Mullah Akhtar Mansoor has left some 30 men dead on both sides. Gul Islam Siyal, spokesman for the provincial governor told Salam Watandar that the two groups start fighting last evening.
Expressing lack of knowledge over the exact number of deaths, he said the groups fought for quite a long time. Security officials however, claim pro-Daesh rebels fought with the group of the Taliban in Khak-e-Afghan and Arghandab districts.
Ghulam Jilani Farahi, Director Security in Zabul told Salam Watandar that the fighting has claimed at least 30 lives and many more are wounded. He said the exact reason for the fight was not known but feud over authority in the area might have caused it.
Though, the Taliban have not said anything about it but the fact that last month a militant group led by Mullah Dadullah and Mullah Rasoul announced its disassociation with Mullah Mansoor, charging him with the murder of late Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omar.
The two also blamed new Taliban chief for being an agency for foreign spy agencies.
