PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Taliban have warned residents in northern Baghlan province not to refer their judicial cases to the government courts, and instead refer it to the commission, which they have recently established.
Besmillah Attash, a member at the Baghlan provincial council, told Salam Watandar that the militants have also warned the residents that they would be severely punished if they did not refer their cases to their commission.
He said that the residents in the areas under the Taliban’s control like the Dand-e-Ghori, Central Baghlan and Tala-o-Barfak areas do refer to the Taliban for their legal problems.
He added that the government has no control over these areas and that the Taliban can do whatever they wish.
Zabiullah Shujah, spokesman for the police chief in the province, confirmed the news, and said that the security forces are prepared to conduct a mop-up operation to clear the areas of the militants soon.
The militants have shot dead several residents in areas under their control over charges of cooperating with the government.
