KABUL (SW) – The Taliban announced on Wednesday via a statement they would not take part in the forthcoming Loya Jirga (grand consultative session).
The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahed, has dubbed this consultative session for peace as an ‘exhibitory and fake’ project. The Taliban also urged people not to attend the Loya Jirga for peace.
A while ago, Mohammad Umer Daudzai, secretary for the High Peace Council, publicly invited the Taliban to attend the Loya Jirga for peace. He said if the Taliban attend this consultative session, it would emerge as an inclusive and national process.
The four-day Loya Jirga is scheduled to commence on Apr. 29 with some 2500 participants from across the country.
