FARAH CITY (SW): A number of provincial council members in Farah have informed Salam Watandar the Taliban overran the police headquarters in Anar Dara district.
Visuals emerged from the area also suggest the Taliban in control of the police headquarters in Anar Dara.
Dadullah Qaneh, member of the provincial council, informed that the Taliban are eyeing to overrun the district administration compound and an army station in the vicinity. Highlighting the grimness of the situation, he stressed the security forces have so far not received additional support to push the militants back.
Jamila Amini, another member of the provincial council, has claimed the district police chief and his four police guards got wounded in clashes with the Taliban. She feared if security aid is swiftly not dispatched to the area, more casualties would occur.
A local civil society activist, Qudratullah Farooqi, claimed the Taliban have also overran the district administration compound as well as the station of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in the district.
Meanwhile, Nasir Mehri, spokesman for the provincial governor, has only confirmed that the Taliban have reached three kilometers close to the district center, and clashes are underway. He said additional air and ground forces have been dispatched to the area. He did not share details about casualties.
