MAIDAN SHAHAR(SW):Reports sugget that the Taliban have attacked security forces’ checkpoints at Kabul-Bamiyan highway and have closed the highway for the passengers.
Attaullah Khogyani, Spokesman for Maidan Wardak’s governor, told SalamWatandar that hundreds Taliban fighters attacked the highway and searched the passengers
Khogyani said that the Taliban were repelled by the security forces and that also inflicted heavy casualties upon the rebels. He further said that security forces have opened Kabul-Ghazni highway to people but Kabul-Bamiyan highway still remains closed.
“Military operation against the Taliban is underway and Kabul-Bamiyan highway will soon reopen.” He said.
A resident from Jalriz district, Maidan Wardak province, said the Taliban have closed Kabul-Bamiyan highway since morning and fighting still continues.
Shariffullah, a member of parliament from Maidan Wardak however, said that the Taliban has created problems on the both sides of the highway.
He asked the government to seriously ensure the security in the highways.
Taliban have yet to comment about it.
