PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Local officials in Logar province’s Sarkh district have blamed the Taliban for forcefully closing down all schools here.
Mohammad Haneef Hanifi, governor for the district, informed Salam Watandar that the Taliban have closed down these schools in retaliation to the military operation launched against them. He said a top Taliban commander Mawlawi Mohammad got killed in this operation, and in retaliation the militants closed down the schools.
Mohammad Shahpur Arab, spokesman for the directorate of education, has acknowledged closing down of schools in Sarkh. He said efforts are underway to re-open these schools.
Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahed, has discarded these reports.
