GHAZNI CITY (SW) – The Taliban rebels briefly overran the Jaghato district in Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.
Nasser Ahmad Faqiri, member of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the rebels stormed the district administration at midnight, and left early in the morning after setting the place ablaze. He added the Taliban also attacked the Zanakhan and Wagez districts in the province.
In the meantime, Mohammad Arif Noori, spokesman for the provincial governor, asserted the Taliban’s attack on Jaghato district was repulsed resulting in the compound catching fire. He said eight rebels were killed seven more wounded. Noori confirmed killing of four policemen due to clashes in Zanakhan district.
The Taliban have not commented on this immediately.
