KABUL (SW) – Despite ongoing efforts for peace, the Taliban have continued with their violence, killing 89 civilians in the past two weeks, the National Security Council said in a statement.
The statement added that the Taliban attacks also wounded 150 others during this period. The NSC said that a large number of civilians had been killed and injured in roadside bombings and targeted Taliban attacks, most of them in Kabul, Kandahar and Sar-e-Pul provinces.
The statement added: “Targeting and harming civilians is against all religious norms and war principles that the Taliban are perpetuating regularly."
However, the Taliban denied this via a statement.
This comes as an unannounced ceasefire is in place across the country following a three-day truce during Eid holidays.
