FAIZABAD(SW): Abdullah Naji, Head of Badakhshan Provincial Council, told Salamwatandar that the militants have beheaded 18 security personnel who were arrested during fighting in Warduj district.
He said the victims served for Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan Local Police (ALP) and their dead bodies were handed to the security forces on Tuesday.
According to the officials, the Taliban have beheaded 40 security personnel in Pul Ali Moghlan, Jurm, Raghistan and Warduj districts so far this year.
He said those individuals who behead security forces, have ties with armed Chechenyan and Uyghur rebels who are based in the north of the country.
It is said that the number of Chechnyans and Uyghurs in the north of the country is around 300 men and have a specific groups who are assigned to behead government forces.
Shah Wali Adib, Acting Governor in Badakhshan, said around a month ago, in the fighting in Dehan Aab area in Jurm district, burned alive 7 security forces soldiers in a container.
He said Taliban have issued a directory to their members to behead those security forces they take captive in the fighting adding that Taliban want to create fear among locals through such approach.
Currently, Taliban are still operating in Warduj district in Badakhshan as well as in parts of Baharak, Jurm, Raghistan, Shohada and Tagab disricts.
