GHAZNI CITY (SW): Owners of the wedding halls in southern province Ghazni said that Taliban through tribal elders have warned them to avoid filming or playing music at their wedding halls.
The militants have also warned that those who disobey their warnings, would be severely punished.
Karim Payeez, one of the owners, told Salam Watandar that he would do his best not to allow music at his wedding hall although it would affect his business.
Sabrullah, one of the residents in the province, said that he once was at a wedding party which there was no music and the guests didn’t know what to do. He said that when the food was served, the wedding ended.
Mohammad Nazir, a young man who is willing to hold his wedding party at a wedding hall, said that despite the fact that the Taliban’s ban on music would diminish unnecessary spending but it would be sad if the party would go without music.
He believes that there should be a difference between a mourning ceremony and a wedding party.
Hasan Reza Yousufi, a member at Ghazni Provincial Council, however said that Taliban by exerting pressure on the owners of the wedding halls, seek to earn fortune from them and when they pay them money the problems would be solved.
He added that the owners used to pay for Taliban and when they stopped paying them anymore, they were threatened not to play music at the wedding halls.
Salam Watandar tried to reach local officials to have their comments in this regard but to no avail.
