PARUN (SW): Local authorities in Nuristan province report Taliban attack on different parts of Wantwaygal district on Wednesday morning.
According to the authorities, the at least 25000 Taliban insurgents who have gathered from other districts of Nuristan, have attacked Wantwaygal district of the province.
Rahmatullah Rahmati, the chief of Wantwaygal district, in a conversation with Salam Watandar, said that fresh troops have arrived and pushed back the Taliban attack, but the clash is still on going. “30 Taliban insurgents are killed and some are injured. While 1 soldier lost his life and 5 more are injured in this clash”, informed Rahmati.
Some residents of the district also told Salam Watandar that a group Taliban insurgents launched the attack in the morning. The locals added that the Taliban wanted to blow up a bridge which connects the district to Kunar province in order to besiege the district, but the group was faced by the security forces.
Taliban has not commented on the matter to media yet.
