KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Taliban insurgents have attacked the main Kunduz-Takhar highway and the main bazar of Qala Zaal district in the early hours of Friday morning.
Assadullah Sadat, member Kunduz’s provincial council, told Salam Watandar that at late Tuesday night Taliban insurgents entered the Aaq Tapa village, at the center of Qala-e-Zaal district and attacked in the early hours of Friday morning on the security outposts. “Intense fight is still going on between security forces and the Taliban”, informed Sadat.
He further added that the security forces are backed by air-force, but if re-enforcements are not sent; the security forces will lose their lives.
Mahfozullah Akbari, spokesman for northwest police zone, said the situation is under control. “Fighting is going on in differently places of the district”, informed Abari. He added that the Taliban insurgents opened fire in the early hours of Friday on the security forces stationed for the security of Kunduz-Takhar highway. He also informed that the highway is closed for traffic.
The spokesman for the northwest police zone did not give information on the number of casualties, but the Taliban in a statement have claimed that 8 security officers are dead.
