ASADABAD (SW): As part of the yearly offensives, the Taliban have attacked a number of districts in the eastern Kunar province with claims of overrunning a number of check posts while the government asserts that as many as 9 militants have been killed.
Abdul Haseeb Sayedkhail, the provincial police chief, told Salam Watandar that the attacks by the Taliban have been successfully thwarted. He added that sporadic attacks are still underway. As per his information, 9 militants have been killed and 12 more wounded.
He added that only one security men has been wounded in the attacks while no damage has been inflicted upon civilians.
The Taliban on the other hand have claimed that as many as 21 combat posts came under their attacks in Surkani, Nari, Narang, Dankam and Marawara districts. They claimed to have destroyed a ranger vehicle and leaving a number of the soldiers dead and wounded.
