JALALABAD (SW) – Deadly clashes are underway between the fighters of the Taliban and the Daesh insurgent groups in Kunar province’s Chapa Dara district.
Ghani Musmim, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar the fighting flared-up in the Warsak area of the district, and so far at least 12 pro-Daesh fighters are killed. He said no details are available on the casualties sustained by the Taliban. He added the fighting continued on Saturday as well.
There have been no confirmed reports on civilian casualties from these clashes so far. The Afghan National Army’s 201 – Sailab Corps has issued a statement confirmed these clashes.
A resident of the district, Ziaur Rehman, told SW the pro-Daesh rebels attacked a Taliban facility here killing two militants, and later the Taliban responded with assaults on the pro-Daesh militants.
Similar clashes have erupted between these two groups here in the past as well with both experiencing occasional victory and defeat against each other. The two groups have not commented on the latest clashes.
