GHAZNI (SW): The intensification of war in Ghazni has resulted in the criticisms of the local and central government. In a separate news conference, some of the members of the Ghazni Provincial Council, concerned about the intensification of Taliban attacks have criticized the government’s lack of attention to this province.
Ghanzi Provincial Council member Hamidullah Nawrooz said that the central government’s ignorance has caused the audacity of the Taliban to amplify, and recently the Taliban have been trying to block the Kabul – Kandahar highway.
According to Mr. Nawrooz, the Taliban have allocated 60 million AFN to seize Ghazni from the government forces.
Hasan Reza Yousufi, secretary of Ghazni Provincial Counil also said that the presence of Taliban intruders inside the system has made it difficult to fight this group. Mr. Yousufi asked the central government to respond to Ghazni people’s call for help.
Mohammad Arif Noori, the spokesperson for the Governor of Ghazni, welcomed the demands of the provincial council members to increase the military forces but said that; it is not the weakness in the leadership of the security forces, but the negligence of the national forces in doing their duties has strengthened the armed opposition.
The spokesperson of the Governor of Ghazni assured that Ghazni will never fall into the hands of the Taliban.
In the past few days, the Taliban have intensified their attacks on a number of Ghazni districts. The Taliban attacked the Khogyani district of the province last night, and according to Mr. Khaliqdaad Akbari, the head of the Ghazni Provincial Council, this district was not under the control of the government for several hours. But the local officials in Khogyani district rejected the Taliban’s capture of the district.
