Taliban abduct three folk singers in Takhar

TAKHAR (SW): Mohammad Nadir, son of one of these three folk singers, told Salam Watandar that his father, Wali Mohammad, with his friends, Tela Mohammad Takhari and Ghulam Shah have been captured by Taliban after they traveled to Iskamesh district to sing in a party, three days ago.

He said the Taliban have contacted the families of these singers after three days and asked for three million AFN ransom in exchange for the freedom of these singers.  According to him, first Taliban have decided to execute these three singers, however, they have changed their minds and have decided to release them in exchange for ransom.

Mosadequllah, Police Chief of Takhar told Salam Watandar that the Taliban kidnapped these folks four days ago. According to him, efforts are underway to release these folk singers.

Mosadequllah added that Iskamesh district is bordered with Burk-e Baghlan district and presumably the Taliban have taken these three folk singers to there.

So far, Taliban have not released anything to the media in this regard.
